Sarah D – Counselling in Petersfield

One client said to me “counselling is like talking to myself, only you put it in ways that I can understand”. I offer a free first session and many approaches for relationship issues, anxiety, anger, depression, loss and trauma including art and sandwork and the bodymind connection, as well as talking. You are completely free to say as much (or as little) as you wish, it’s your choice.

How we would work together:-

We would work on a one to one basis.

As an Integrative Counsellor I can offer many approaches and techniques to address issues around relationships, anxiety, depression, bereavement, traumatic situations and other challenging circumstances. Whilst talking can be very useful, some people find that using alternative methods such as drawing, a sandtray, movement or listening to our bodies can provide additional awareness that was previously hidden in our unconscious.

What is Counselling?

We all have times or situations that are hard and looking at them with an independent, caring and non-judgemental person can make them more manageable.

Exploring experiences in a safe, confidential environment with a curious and open mind can lead to more insight. This can result in feeling more secure in ourselves, which often inspires change in and around us. Feeling heard and supported allows us to develop our self awareness, which makes it easier to make decisions with self confidence.

A bit about my background:-

I started working life in marketing with British Gas and left when I found out that I was having twins. I later rejoined the working world and had many part time jobs including admin in a housing association, telesales and long hours as a carer before retraining as a counsellor. I have worked with young people in schools (for bereavement, anxiety and anger) and was a counsellor and group leader at MIND, leading courses in mindfulness, anxiety, depression and anger management for people experiencing mental health issues.

I have run training courses on maintaining good mental health and managing stress for local colleges, Police, Ambulance and Fire services.

Currently I have a private counselling practice and volunteer as a counsellor at Off The Record, Havant.

Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will be happy to help in any way.
